Heilige-Geestcollege (College of the Holy Spirit)
In 1942 the aristocrat Lodewijk de Rycke gave the University a house for students of the Faculty of Theology, the oldest college institution of the university. The college was completely renovated in the 18th century. It is still being used as a student residence.
The Heiliggeestcollege also houses the Spoelberchmuseum. This permanent exhibition displays a selection from the art collection bequeathed to the university by Viscount Charles-Victor de Spoelberch (1836-1907) at the beginning of the past century. An ancestral portrait gallery, collector's furniture, family silver and a collection of European and Oriental porcelain are the highlights of this collection (16th-19th century).
The museum is open to individual visitors every second Saturday of the month between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., except on public holidays. Groups must first make an appointment with a guide of the K.U. Leuven.
