Application for or extension of certificate of registration

After you have been registered with the city, you can apply for a certificate of registration (formerly: orange card). 

Do you already have a certificate, but is it about to expire ? And have you not yet received any decision about your application? Have it extended.

What do you need to bring?

For all applications

  • For first application
    • 1 passport photo
      • The photo is no more than 6 months old.
      • Pay attention to the requirements (Dutch only) .
      • There is a photo booth in the city office.
        Pay attention: take your photo before taking your appointment ticket at the dispenser.
    • Money
      You can pay using cash or a debit/credit card.
  • For extension
    • Certificate of registration
      We put a new stamp on your certificate. Pay attention: is your certificate full or damaged? Then we make a new one and you have to bring a photo.
    • Money
      You can pay using cash or a debit/credit card.

Additional documents

  • For application family reunification
    • National passport
    • Annex 19ter, annex 15bis or annex 41bis (as applicable)
    • If you already have a residence card: expired residence card
  • For asylum application (application for international protection)
    • Annex 26 (or possibly ‘annex 25’)
  • Other applications

    E.g. application for medical regularisation (art. 9ter), student without proof of registration or health insurance

    • National passport
